Castles, forts, and sacred sites across Ghana bear witness to the transatlantic slave trade. We tell these stories from the African perspective, ensuring truth is preserved.
These monuments are sacred spaces where we honor the voices of our ancestors, preserve their prayers, and protect their legacy.
By engaging with these sites through education and reconnection, we begin to heal the wounds of the past while shaping a stronger future.
The Diaspora Bridge teaches the history of enslavement from an African perspective, preserves ancestral memory, and creates immersive educational and spiritual experiences.
Nana Boakye Yiadom is a passionate historian and tour guide at Elmina Castle, with deep family roots in Eguafo-Breman near Elmina. With a degree in Basic Education and years of guiding visitors through this UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nana brings to life one of West Africa’s most iconic landmarks and its pivotal role in the transatlantic slave trade.
Known for his ability to connect history to the present, Nana helps visitors not only understand the horrors of the dungeons and the contradictions of the church above, but also feel the resilience and prayers of the ancestors who passed through the Castle’s walls. His strong personal connection to Elmina fuels his mission: to educate, inspire, and ensure that Ghana’s rich and complex heritage is remembered, honored, and shared with the world.
